Creating a New Follow-up

There are several ways to create a follow-up:

  1. From the Follow-ups page — click the Add Follow-up button in the header
  2. From the Leads page — click the Follow Up action on any active lead
  3. From Chat — use the follow-up shortcut in the chat interface

All methods open the same follow-up dialog.

The Follow-up Dialog

The dialog has a split layout:

1. Navigate to Follow-ups and click "Add Follow-up"

Form Fields

Contact search

The contact dropdown supports search — start typing a name to find the contact quickly. The list loads in pages (50 at a time), so you can scroll down to load more contacts.

Auto-Close Behavior

When you create a new follow-up with the status set to Open, the system automatically closes any previous open follow-ups for the same contact. This ensures there's only one active follow-up per contact at a time.

This auto-close happens automatically — you don't need to manually close previous follow-ups before creating a new one.

From Leads or Chat

When you create a follow-up from the Leads page or from Chat, the contact is pre-selected and cannot be changed. This makes it quick to create a follow-up for the contact you're already working with.

Click Save to create the follow-up, or Cancel to discard.


Editing a Follow-up

To edit an existing follow-up:

  1. Click the Edit action on the follow-up row in the table
  2. The same dialog opens with the form pre-filled

When editing:

  • The Contact field is disabled — you cannot change which contact the follow-up is for
  • You can update the Type, Status, Next Follow-up Date, and Comments
  • The left panel shows the full follow-up history for this contact
Closed follow-ups cannot be edited

If a follow-up has been closed, you cannot edit it. If you need to follow up again with the same contact, create a new follow-up instead.
